Jevon L. Garrett was born in Portsmouth, Virginia and moved to New York State in 1982. He now lives in the Ithaca area with his wife. He is a graduate of the University of Rochester in 1985 and Cornell University Law School in 1995. He taught high school history for five years, then pursued the study of law at Cornell University.
He has practiced law since 1995 in private practice, then as Assistant District Attorney and as a sole practitioner. He currently serves Of Counsel to Shaw Law Firm.
He owns a business on the Ithaca Commons, teaches Business Law and Commercial Law at Ithaca College, and Trial Advocacy at Cornell University, as well as on-line classes for Tompkins Cortland
Community College. He also works part time as Cortland County Assistant District Attorney.
